Meeting with APN+

Two members of Together We Are went to visit Asia Pacific Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS’s office in Sukhumvit, Bangkok on 12th June 2008. They were greeted by Frika Chia Iskandar, Women of APN+ Coordinator and Attapon (Ed) Ngoksin, Communication’s Assistant, International Treatment Preparedness Coalition (ITPC). Together We Are introduced there round the globe HIV/AIDS campaign on Bicycle to Ms. Frika and Mr. Attapon and latter on joined them for a discussion of different issues regarding mottos of the bicycle trip and HIV/AIDS scenario of Thailand and Asia Pacific region. Ms Frika gave a brief introduction of APN+’s working range. She also provided information about the situations of different countries of the region and the life and struggle of PLHA of the same. She mentioned about the steps taken towards improving the living conditions of PLHA in Thailand and other countries and about the organizations working in this region. The strategies that this organizations are planning to fight against the massive epidemic of HIV/AIDS. She also expressed APN+’s ideas about the steps that ought to be taken in future in Asia Pacific region to prevent a wide spread of the deadly disease. Mr. Attapon of ITPC gave a clear idea about the treatment and health care facilities provided for the PLHA in Thailand. He also informed about the situations of different high risk groups regarding HIV/AIDS like MSM or IDUs in Thailand. He also gave valuable information about the groups working in different parts of Thailand regarding HIV/AIDS. Members of Together We Are informed them about their HIV/AIDS awareness campaign on bicycle and the HIV/AIDS scenario of Bangladesh. They described their plan regarding their tour through Thailand and beyond. Later on APN+ provided Together We Are a “Report of The Commission On AIDS In Asia” and insured their full support and appreciation regarding round the globe HIV/AIDS campaign on bicycle.
